About

In September 2025, Alice & Bob achieved a major breakthrough with cat qubits achieving bit-flip times exceeding one hour, a considerable improvement over the previously recorded 430 seconds (approximately seven minutes) attained in 2024 on their Boson 4 chip. At a mean photon number of 11, the team measured bit-flip times ranging from 33 to 60 minutes with 95% confidence and successfully performed a Z gate operation on the cat qubit with 94.2% fidelity in 26.5 nanoseconds. This achievement surpasses the 13-minute threshold required for the company's early fault-tolerant quantum computer (eFTQC) roadmap slated for 2030, which aims to deliver a device with 100 logical qubits. By implementing 'squeezing,' Alice & Bob improved bit-flip error protection by 160 times compared to standard cat qubits on the same chip. The company also partnered with NVIDIA to build datacenters of the future with cat qubit quantum technology and collaborated with Classiq to pioneer fault-tolerant quantum computing. 2025 Developments: In January 2025, Alice & Bob received €100 million Series B funding from Future French Champions, AXA Venture Partners, and Bpifrance. In September 2025, Alice & Bob announced $117 million Series B round and plans to recruit 100 new employees by mid-2026. Building a $50 million advanced quantum lab in Paris for cat qubit technology. In April 2025, Alice & Bob was selected by DARPA for Quantum Benchmarking Initiative to advance cat qubit technology toward utility-scale computing by 2033
