HENSOLDT

HENSOLDT is a German defense electronics company awarded a contract by the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative (DLR QCI) for the QUA-SAR research project, optimizing complex radar remote sensing scenarios using quantum computing. HENSOLDT collaborates with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Microwaves and Radar Institute and Tensor AI Solutions GmbH to integrate classical Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) methods with quantum technology concepts. The company established its 'Quantum Sensing and Technologies' initiative in early 2024 to develop HENSOLDT's technological orientation in quantum technologies. The QUA-SAR project addresses radar resource management challenges that cannot be solved in real time with conventional computers, focusing on radar antenna optimization, broadcast signal design, ambiguity suppression, and efficient processing of vast radar data volumes. Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, HENSOLDT aims to provide decisive advantages in radar sensor performance.
